OVERALL TAKEAWAY: “A nod to the romantic beauty and sensuality of India”

The designer who cut her designing teeth on wedding gowns and ice skating costumes looked to India this season to heighten her already romantic looks. Wang trotted out tulip skirts, heavy embroidery, yards of lace, and off-the-shoulder gowns on models like Joan Smalls and Hanne Gaby Odiele, while Anna Wintour and Stacy Keibler looked on.

The catwalkers, with their mussed hair piled on their heads, walked out in rope-accented heels tied at the ankles and nary an accessory as far as the eye could see. And why would they clutter up the look with even the teensiest bracelet? There were plenty of embellishments, at the hips or neck, to double as baubles. Layers of lace and ornate prints needed no additional glitz.

Rich purples, greens, and blues with metallic accents were deep enough to be autumnal, but that’s not going to stop fans of Wang’s sensual, romantic designs.
