OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Tory Burch referred to her Spring 2013 collection as the wardrobe of a “stylish magpie who picks up special pieces while traveling around the world and always mixes them with classic sportswear.”
The emblem of American design, Tory reinvented her signature preppy-chic polo and cardigan style with some elements of around-the-world travel inspiration, from beaded necklaces to fringe and tie-dye.
Colors ranged from soft creams and pale yellows to rich corals and deep blues, making reference to a wide range of regions, from exotic tropical scenes to Native American-inspired desert destinations and lush forest landscapes.
From a color-blocked leather jacket and fringed knit poncho with floral appliqué to a honeycomb-eyelet organza dress and paillettte-embroidered mesh gown, dresses and separates in classic Tory shapes were covered in funky and colorful embellishments for a carefully executed uptown-luxe meets boho-hippie appeal.
