OVERALL TAKEAWAY: This is the kind of Fashion Week impact we’ve been waiting for; and while it’s only Day 4 of NYFW, Altuzarra’s Spring 2013 collection will easily come out on top.
Each piece of clothing (and let us just say, there were at least four per look) had a well thought out and new constructive plan — constructive being the operative word here. While jackets featured vents and clasps that allowed them to function as capes, they were also done up in railroad stripe engineering fabric.
Soon following this workwear aesthetic came bejeweled fabrics adorned with fringe, and Altuzarra’s signature layering quality. There was not a inch of fabric that wasn’t reworked and stitched to give an unsurpassable and almost couture sense of detail to each piece.
This collection is not only destined to fly off the racks and onto the shoulders of the fashion elite, but it has also redefined classically tailored pieces making them even more functional and wearable. Bravo.
