Rag & Bone Spring 2013 RTW
Show: Rag & Bone, Spring 2013
Theme: The desert traveler meets preppy seersucker stripes
Hair: Guido Palau for Redken
Makeup: Gucci Westman-Neville for Revlon
Accessories: Pilot bags, bulky leather pumps, raffia visors, Oakley x Rag & Bone motorcycle sunglasses
Overall Takeaway: Holding a runway show at the United States Post Office directly across from Penn Station calls for high expectations. But then again, when you’re Rag & Bone, high expectations are to be expected because designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville never disappoint.
This season the boys pulled from a variety of places — a touch of motorcross here, a dab of preppy seersucker there, crisp cool whites (this season’s hottest color) and how could we forget the march of neon green and blue leather that paraded its way down the runway to a live DJ set by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.
Silhouettes were bulky and oversized with hideaway hoods and cargo-inspired pockets. Lace was interspersed throughout the collection (another popular fabric for the upcoming season), as were raffia hats and motorbike sunglasses done in collaboration with Oakley.
All in all, this is a collection for the downtown cool girl Rag & Bone has come to define. Oh, and did we mention Victoria’s Secret Angel (and all around cool girl) Candice Swanepoel walked in the show?
