We don't want to rush you into packing away your shorts for longer layers, but 'tis the season for autumn shopping.

Want to know what colors you can anticipate? Let's look back at what the runways foreshadowed for Fall 2012.

This isn't the season to stick to basic black. Sure, there were plenty of edgy and somber looks back in February for the coming months, but those wanting to rev up their wardrobe with a little, or a lot of, color needn't wait any longer.

Blush and bashful weren't just the wedding hues for Steel Magnolias' Shelby. Light pinks were all over the runways from Jil Sander to Alexander McQueen, while Gucci and Jason Wu, to name a few, opted to display a moodier oxblood.

Sure enough, Pantone's color of the year, Tangerine Tango, took center stage in an array of burnt oranges and similar citrus tones seen everywhere from Givenchy to Haider Ackermann.

Purple is making a notable comeback, in different shades from light to more vibrant, thanks to Dior and Comme des Garçons, for example.

Anna Sui displayed rich blues, as did Lanvin, so step away from your black uniform.

Save it for laundry day.
