Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2012

Only Stella McCartney can get the fashion glitterati down to NYC's West Village on a brisk January evening. (And a Monday at that.)

The designer presented her Pre-Fall 2012 collection, though the clothes were less presented so much as worn by willowy models who milled around the restaurant. (It was held at One if by Land, Two if by Sea on Barrow Street.) Nothing quite like standing amidst a group of models to boost one's self-esteem.

But onto the clothes. Pretty, as you'd expect from Stella. Floral gowns, chic prints, and, of course, the Stella blazer. The tuxedo will never go away, and, for that, I am thankful.

Metallics and jacquards added glamour to the collection (think party looks for cool girls), and made the soiree setting all the more appropriate. The more casual pieces were very English countryside—tweeds and plaids. I'm totally feeling the Downton Abbey vibe.

The accessories—which I, of course, went to first—were a mix of platform heels and loafers along with gold-chained bags that were on the smaller side. All very proper and ladylike, and definitely on my must-buy list.
