Market Watch: Pink by Douglas Hannant

Last night, Douglas Hannant introduced Pink, his new collection that one could consider diffusion. The line is more casual for Hannant—well, we use the word casual loosely. Think chic separates that would be perfect to wear to lunch, shopping, or out and about. But at price points decidedly lower from Hannant's main line. (Read: $75 to $400 for tops and separates, $200 to $700 for dresses.)

Pink launched with a very chilled out soiree at THoR (The Hotel on Rivington) on Manhattan's Lower East Side—a big change from the usual Hannant setting.

A little downtown edge meets the Upper East Side lady who lunches? Somewhat. The pieces were a pretty and cute mix of separates (and dresses) that can be dressed up or down per the wearer. Add a quilted jacket and Loubs or toughen up with a leather jacket and boots. Either way, the new collection is versatile—and about to meet a whole new customer. And lingerie and accessories are also in the works.

Pink will be sold in its own downtown Manhattan boutique, starting in Spring 2012, with more to follow. Gives you plenty of time to pick your favorite looks.
