Market Watch: Guess

Guess Holiday 2011

Never let it be said that fashion girls don't eat. Because everyone was chowing down on tacos at the Guess and Guess by Marciano holiday preview last night, at the Mondrian Soho's penthouse roof terrace.

Fish tacos, wine, and looking at clothes with Manhattan as a backdrop? Don't mind if I do.

The setting was a bit strange when it came to looking at coats—the city, like much of the country right now—is sweltering. But the lighter dresses (for your holiday fêtes) were easier to take in while sweating.

The less sequin-heavy items had a downtown bent, with skinny pants, tuxedo jackets and blazers, and tees or blouses. A blazer over a beat up tee is always a favorite of mine (and really, I live in beat up tees and tanks).

The more festive looks were shiny and billowing in the breeze—hard to fathom sequined sleeves this time of year but come December, this could be just the thing.
