Resort 2012: Theodora & Callum

theodora and callum

There’s nothing like a good scarf to get you out of a dull outfit slump. A tee and jeans, LBD, even a bikini can be improved with a bright splash of color—a concept Theodora & Callum is clearly on board with.

The accessories brand, helmed by Stefani Greenfield (of Scoop, Launch My Line, and Curations with Stefani Greenfield fame) and Full Picture founder and president (and Project Runway's exec producer) Desiree Gruber, may also offer shoes, bags and jewelry—more on these later—but it’s the scarves that really get shoppers excited. At today’s presentation of the resort collection, the Bryant Park hotel’s Loft suite was literally filled with the scarves, in so many poppy patterns and bright colors it was hard to know where to look first.

Inspired by Gruber and Greenfield’s travels to such exotic locales as Bora Bora, Goa, and the Seychelles, the scarves (which come in a linen blend or a super-soft bamboo knit) are extra-big and are meant to be used not only as scarves but as dresses, sarongs, even beach blankets or airport wraps. (For those at a loss as to how to make a dress from a scarf, the brand’s site offers handy how-tos.)

The Stuart Weitzman-produced shoes, plenty of wedges, cork heels and espadrilles, are just as travel-friendly, and the chunky jewelry has the feeling of something you might have stumbled upon in an open-air market in some fabulous destination.

With summer in New York officially here, we’re all itching for a getaway—who knew a scarf or a necklace could be just as good? Too bad this collection won't be available until November. But then again, the current Spring/Summer is on the website....
