Bettina’s Take: Tory Burch’s Madison Avenue Store Opening

Tory Burch

Good news for Upper East Siders: The Tory Burch store on Madison and 67th Street is now open for business. Burch always does things right. The opening night party had a great vibe, complete with DJ Cassidy spinning. Beyoncé made an appearance, as did Serena Williams.

Daniel Romualdez, who designed the space, had a lot to be proud of: three floors of gorgeous carpeting and perfect display racks.

"What a great terrace," said Lisa Perry, in a dress of her own design, as we stepped into the outdoor space on the third floor, where waiters held trays of champagne, wine, water, and hors d'oeuvres.

A video art piece designed by graffiti artist James De La Vega, containing positive and motivational sayings by both the artist and Burch, was projected onto the building facing the terrace—genius.

"Are there styles available only at this location?" I heard an enthusiastic shopper ask. The answer is yes—yet another reason to shop here.

Lizzie Tisch, wearing Libertine, was an instant fan.

"Tory Burch and her interior design partner, Daniel Romualdez, have created a space that is true to her fashion vision, as well as its Upper East Side location," said Tisch. “The townhouse is a perfect setting to showcase her broad selection of clothing and accessories.”

Many of Burch's BFFs, looking glamorous as always, came to support the designer, and were blown away by the space, including Renee Rockefeller, Dayssi Kanavos, and Samantha Boardman.

I saw Aerin Lauder on my way out. She was on her way to Crown, The Lion's sister restaurant on 81st Street—delicious.

Tory's new store and a hot new restaurant—why bother going downtown?
